Five years ago this month we took an idea to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to test the assertion that predictive analytics could help educators understand more about student loss and momentum. The Predictive Analytics Reporting (PAR) Framework was born out of a commitment toward supporting student success with evidence through community development and collaboration.
PAR has successfully delivered on our promise to provide members with predictive analytics, national outcomes benchmarks, and intervention measurement. PAR has helped show national organizations like NCES, IPEDS, and NSC the value of working with records for all students, using common data definitions to generalize findings and scale results.
We are pleased that Hobsons has acquired PAR to help us realize the full potential we have seen in our work with multiple institutional partners and members. PAR will be a new division at Hobsons. We are especially proud to have helped make student success more actionable by focusing on intervention measurement, and these efforts will continue into the future. The proceeds from the transaction will be used by the nonprofit that developed PAR Framework, now known as the Foundation for Student Success (FSS), to continue to support and develop the intervention measurement research field. FSS will drive an action research agenda to leverage predictive analytics to find students at risk, mitigate those risks before they become problems, and provide students with appropriate, empirically validated interventions at points of greatest need and opportunity for improvement.
